This is NOT Spinal Tap…

Do you remember the mockumentary, “This is Spinal Tap?” Rock band plans a tour…low ticket sales…concerts cancelled…tensions grow…band starts falling apart due to the lack of support. Well kids, that’s not what we have here.

This group pictured here are part of the Tampa Bay Musicians Co-op. Started back in March of 2011 by Regina AaMacha, a singer/songwriter who moved to the village two years ago, and saw an opportunity to create a place where musicians could gather together and support one another. A place where these peeps could learn and grow…helping them define themselves as musicians.

ARE YOU INTRIGUED?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I thought you would be…

Starting with the concept–the right music at the right place. Regina and other supporters work with venues to establish their needs, then musicians are chosen–of which there are over 100 members–that will supply the right fit. Central command, as it is commonly called by the co-op, is connected to the Fleur de Lis Cafe…Regina’s other passion…her cafe and specialty foods market. This space is used for rehearsing, meetings, workshops and teaching, and all musicians pay a low monthly fee to be a part of this enterprising association.

MUSIC…puts us in touch with our emotions. It makes us sing out loud, dance and sometimes cry…it’s a gift-
MUSIC is.

(Had to divert for a sec to get my message out there…after all, this is my blog…right?)

The co-op gets calls every week from other venues, for weddings, music lessons and mentoring…just putting ideas out there if any readers need some musical talent and not sure where to look. Just want to hear some music??? Try Wednesdays from 7-10pm with FREELOW’s JAM or Saturdays with Open Mic Nite. Thursdays the co-op features Legends & Lore…a songwriter workshop.

The Tampa Bay Music Co-op…building the bridge to connect local musicians, fans and venues.
