less than three Week…Friday…

DSC_5119It’s Friday!!! Who doesn’t ❤ this day, with the weekend just around the corner…OR…even better, if you're in school and summer break is just around the corner. Happy Friday, and just like your work week…school week…whatever week…we're winding down our week-long project devoted to <3. The weekend is almost here, so it’s time to get outside!!!

We less than three Philippe Park with it's towering tree canopy givin' off all that oxygen for us to sustain life. The trees provide us with shade to keep us cool throughout the long summer months, and their absolute beauty…well, there is nothing like it.

Pictured here are Fairl, Alex and Alaina lovin’ on the tree canopy at Philippe Park in Safety Harbor…looking forward to their last day of school this Wednesday and the lazy summer days they will spend here. AND…BTW…they thought our little idea was pretty nifty…they asked us to take a pic with our less than three prop. Teenagers liking our idea??? Well, it made Terrie and I feel like we still have some coolness left…and that’s a good thing!!!

DSC_5411It’s Mattie Williams Thursday!!! Yes, it’s so sad…we’re almost at the end of our week-long project dedicated to…the heart…the love…the places that make our village so unique. Still, we must move forward…it’s the only way to go. SO, ON WITH THE COUNTDOWN!!!!!!

We less than three Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center. They provide programs and services that educate and support families in need. Food Pantry, Diabetes Testing and Clothing Closet are a few of this center’s ways in which they improve the lives of our fellow villagers. AND…BTW…they ❤ donations!!!

Pictured here is Executive Director, Janet Hooper…of course…displaying the love…the heart of our community’s non for profit organizations.

DSC_5239Woohoo!!! It’s Wednesday…hump day…it’s all downhill from here. So, let’s get on with it, shall we???

We less than three our Safety Harbor Public Library, with all it's cool programs. Summer Reading Kick-Off Party and Creative Writing Workshops are some that will be starting in June, but no need to wait for summer, just stroll on in and check out all the great programs and services the Safety Harbor Public Library has.

AND…remember kids, you can reserve your books online or send request for a book from another public library in the county…this is one of our personal fave services that they offer.

Pictured here is Librarian, Lori Polgar, taking a break from her desk to show her ❤ for the Safety Harbor Library. We all ❤ the library. Why not visit your local Library and show it some <3.

less than three Week…Tuesday

DSC_5002Happy Tuesday to all…OR…not. After a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend, it’s hard to get back to the chaos of morning traffic and the office, we hope this will brighten your day a little. We’re crossing our fingers!!!

We less than three the Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center. In 2011 the City of Safety Harbor and Safety Harbor Museum Board joined forces, and now they are proud to offer activities that celebrate the history of Safety Harbor, while welcoming a growing arts community. It's where arts and heritage come together.

Pictured here is Laura Kepner and she is lovin' on the Safety Harbor Museum and cultural Center. Laura is a local author who teaches writing workshops here at the Museum. BUT…she does so much more than teaching. Laura has teamed up with fellow author/villager, Warren Firschein, to co-author a book about Safety Harbor, and it's all about the peeps…the history…early pioneers to more modern times. It should be available by November at local bookstores and Barnes and Nobel.

With so much going on here, why not schedule a tour or sign up for one of the many cool workshops that are offered.

HINT…now is the time to go back and look at yesterday’s post…we’ll be waiting quite patiently for your return.

Aaahhh, there you are! Welcome back. Sooooo, let’s get back to the love fest.

We less than three the poolside tiki bar at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.

It’s a fun and festive place the whole family can enjoy, with outstanding bartenders, serving up refreshing cocktails. They also make frosty beverages for the little villagers, as they splash around the pool and soak up some sunshiny rays.

Pictured here is villager, Valerie Hersch showing her ❤ for the poolside tiki bar and those great bartenders, Chris, Ally and Greg. We think it’s the perfect place to celebrate Memorial Day or any day you need to unwind and get into that island mode.

Peace One Day-TimI would like to introduce my very dear friend, Tim. I just found out this morning that Tim had a heart attack last night and they were not able to revive him. I am so sad and my heart hurts so much. The very thought of him not being around is quite devastating to me, but I know he would not want me to dwell in this sadness for very long. With that being said, I would like to share with anyone who reads this post a few of my fave memories of Tim and why I was so blessed that he was my friend.

* The mannequin he had outside the front entrance of his hair salon, T. J. Mars. He dressed her in one crazy outfit after another.

* He would get lemons for me from the Safety Harbor Farmer’s Market because I was always working on Thursdays and could not attend…he knew I had a phobe about running out of lemons.

* His constant reminders to me that I was older than him…we both turned fifty…but my birthday came first.

* Checking out my hair with that look like “it’s time for color and a cut”…if you knew him, you knew the look, right???

* His smile…simply THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

This pic of Tim is from my Peace One Day project last September. Our friendship grew from working next door to each other for the last three years, and I am so honored and grateful that I got to know him…his partner, John…and…his mother, Brenda.

So I say to all you out there, please try to stay in the moment…please stop obsessing about your destination or your goal and enjoy the journey…please be grateful that you woke up this morning…please be thankful that you have eyes in order to view the beauty that is all around you…please.

Brenda and John, this is for you…much love!

The Tiles of Life…

image-3 (1)Mosaics…the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone or other materials…used to create a pattern or picture. This art is about four thousand years old, and with the use of vivid color, skill and artistry, it can create a message or picture that cannot be created any other way.

Mosaics…the tiles of life…another community project for the future Safety Harbor Art & Music Center, also known as, SHAMc.

Terrie and I were so thrilled to be invited to the Whimsy House to participate in creating three by five foot mosaic panels that will be used on the outside, as well as, the inside of the SHAMc. Neither of us had ever tried it before, but we wanted to be a part of this project. It was there that we learned about mosaics…AND…the SHAMc Collective. It’s a core group of artists working tirelessly to create these panels and perfecting their personal skills in mosaics–which is one of the many workshops they will be conducting when SHAMc opens its doors.

Anything and everything creative…that’s SHAMc!!!

Local artists, Todd and Kiaralinda, winners of a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Program, are working to see their dream come alive…a place to discover and develop all forms of the creative process, whether it be art, music, writing, spoken word, film. They’re making it happen with the support of the community and this core group…The SHAMc Collective…pictured here is Kiaralinda, Barbi, Heather, Laura, Terrie and Luanne. They are placing one “tile of life” at a time…telling you…us…the story of what art and music can do for a village.
